With a team of world-class athletes, Team Sky will most probably be one of the dominant teams in professional cycling. Riders like Bradley Wiggins, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Thomas Löfkvist and Juan Antonio Flecha will successfully represent the new black and blue Team Sky jerseys in the finale of the most important races.
Team Principal David Brailsford is one of the architects of success for British Cycling. Winning eight gold medals at the Bejing Olympics, seven on the track and Nicole Cooke's gold on the road, was an impressive demonstration of a long term strategy. The goal: to be the world's best in cycling sport.

David Brailsford is now applying this model to a professional road team with Team Sky,with the goal of winning the Tour de France with a British rider.
"The riders are at the centre. They're the kings of their world, and we're there to help them" Brailsford says. "We've got this saying, 'performance by the aggregation of marginal gains. It means taking the 1% from everything you do; finding a 1% margin for improvement in everything you do."
Working on every single aspect of performance, world experts appointed in the fields of psychiatry, nutrition, medicine, mechanics and engineering support the riders on their way- individually and as a team.

Head coach of Team Sky is Shane Sutton, one of the leading cyclists on the British professional scene in the 1980s and early 1990s, the highlight of his career being victory in the 1990 Milk Race. He has worked with all of the top British cyclists, including the sprinters.
"It's all about the mission," he says. "On the road it's to be the best sporting team in the world. With the riders we've picked, the sports directors we've selected, and with the technology that Sky will bring to it, I'm sure that's achievable."
"What we'll bring is commitment," continues Sutton. "It's a very exciting journey we're setting out on, but it's important to keep our feet on the ground. But we'll be 100%, 24/7, because cycling is our life."
The hub for Team Sky will be in Quarrata, Italy, 30km north of Florence, with around 40% of the team basing themselves there for much of the year.

SRM is proud to be a part of this expert team. Since the GB Cycling Team supported by Lottery funding started, SRM was a part of it. Uli Schoberer is a very welcome expert on the track in Manchester. He worked together with Peter Keen, Chris Boardman, Nicole Cooke and many others. SRM systems and ergometers are important tools to monitor and support the athletes in their quest to improve.
Team Sky rides SRM Training Systems DuraAce with the new PowerControl 7 in blue. Please have a look at the cyclingnews.com presentation of Ben Swift's Pinarello Dogma.
